Toddler Truths: Fish

If you are friends with me on Facebook, you might have seen how we got stiffed at the Ear, Nose and Throat specialist today. We made an appointment at his downtown office in order to see him sooner to evaluate whether Daven needs tubes put in again.

Daven was mad that he didn't grab BOTH of his so-called Power Ranger swords and then was super mad when we had to get out of the car without daddy so he could park since we were running late.

Up on the forth floor in the waiting room we are told that Daven's Dr. is running 2 1/2 hours behind. And Daven was crying and fussing the whole time. I told the nurse no way we would be waiting and rescheduled.

But what about the fish?

There was a fish tank in the waiting room.

The end.

Kidding.

Daven finally calmed down and mentioned the fish so we went over to the tank to look at them before heading back to the lobby to find daddy.

"Look at those fish, mommy!"

"I see them. Can you count them?"

"One, two, three fishies!"

"Good counting, Daven!"

"Those fish poop in the water"

I can hear the other people in the waiting room stifling a laugh.

"Yes, Bubby. The fish poop in the water. "

"The fishes eat poop in the water, mommy. "

More noticeable laughter. I don't blame them. I'd laugh, too.

I tried to hide my urge to laugh and form a response. "The fish eat their food in the water and they poop in the water, but they don't eat their poop. "

"Two orange fish, mommy. "

"Yes, there are two orange fish in the tank. The other one is black. "

"They go poop in the water. "

I feel like we could have stood there together the rest of the day talking about fish and poop. Man, I love this kid!
